Research content

Our Department consists of three groups: a hypertension/nephrology group, a cardiology group and a pulmonology group. The research theme of the hypertension/nephrology group is the prevention of hypertensive target organ damage in hypertensive patients, and basic research on the pathophysiology of atherosclerosis. The cardiology group has been investigating the pathophysiology and treatment of clinical heart failure, and is performing laboratory research on signal transduction mechanisms in cardiomyocytes. In addition, the pulmonology group has an interest in clinical research on the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary fibrosis and basic research into the mechanism of onset of bronchial asthma.
